(As of 4/15/08): Ryan took time away from the ER set a couple of weeks ago to talk to The Kathleen Show, a radio show based out of Madison, Wisconsin and broadcast in Rhode Island and Washington, DC as well. They discussed Ryan's relationship with his family, his career behind the scenes (how did he get into set dressing, what a set dresser does and how they find work), his acting career and more. Ryan really enjoyed doing this interview and we hope you enjoy listening to it. You can listen by going to the show's guest page for Ryan. Just click on the icon above or click here. If you enjoy the interview, please give Kathleen and her staff your feedback and thank them for inviting Ryan into their show!
(As of 3/5/08): With the WGA strike over, Ryan is back to work on ER! He really enjoys his work and was anxious to get back!
(As of 1/13/08): New addition! We have Ryan's appearance with his mother on Street Smarts. It's a lot of fun to watch. Visit here: ryancassidy.com/streetsmarts.html
(As of 1/9/08): Ryan will be supplying and/or signing some things for auction in the near future. We will keep you posted as to start dates.
Like the rest of us, Ryan is waiting out the WGA strike. This has been his first year working on the show ER and really likes the work. In fact, he got to work with his brother Patrick for the first time through this show. Ryan said Pat did a guest spot for one show and a part of another and it was a lot of fun for them to be able to spend some time together, have lunch together and such. It was a great experience. Last I checked, Pat's episode is scheduled to broadcast next week.
There has also been talk of the Cassidy brothers working together on a project. Actually, this rumor has persisted since the 1980s but this time it is true. Ryan could not give specifics. But his brother Shaun has developed a show that does involve the brothers all working in their pwn capacity. It is on hold - as are most projects - during the strike. (Remember that Shaun is a member of the WGA.) But after the strike is over, they are hoping to move forward. What capacity will Ryan be involved? he is not sure at this point but is very willing to be a part of something that allows him to work with his family.
(As of 12/30/07): Many of you have asked how the WGA strike is affecting Ryan. Well, without the scripts, there aren't shows to film. He did finish working on his most recent project a few weeks ago and has been enjoying the holiday. He's rather calm about things, though. He plans to use his time to not only work on his acting but also to sharpen his design skills.
We did close the MySpace page due to privacy and security problems. We've had a few problems over the years (and 2008 will mark our 10th anniversary) but this year has been unusually bad with not only the amount but the severity. We did try every way possible of working within the system but did have to make the difficult decision to take the page down. This website, though, will remain in place and active. We are just going back to basics and will still provide news and photos for all fans, friends and supporters. This will not affect A Star For Jack - That is going strong and we anticipate a very busy and productive 2008!
(As of 6/24/07): Sorry for the derth of updates. We had problems accessing the code at the server. We do keep things updated on Ryan's MySpace Page, so that serves as a back-up! Really, not much is going on. Ryan finished work on the movie and is taking a break this summer, concentrating on his personal life and acting career. He will update us when he has a chance!
(As of 4/16/07): All the magnets have sold out. Thank you to those of your who ordered! There will be another item coming in the next few weeks!
Also, for those watching the release of Facts of Life on DVD, seasons 1, 2 and 3 have been released so we are getting closer to season 6!

(As of 4/6/07): Ryan is still busy working behind the scenes on a new movie - should be done in May.
He really doesn't have much else to report right now. He will have more time to talk after he is finished with this movie!
(As of 2/26/07): Ryan extends a huge thank you to everyone that sent cards and made donations to 'A Star For Jack' in honor of his birthday. He was, in a word, stunned at your generosity and appreciates the comments made on the donation cards! Indeed, he thanks everyone for their support of 'A Star For Jack' - whether you donated now, in the past or plan to in the future. It means a lot to him! If you make a donation or buy merchandise and want to send a comment with it for Ryan, please let us know and we will be happy to pass it along!
He had a great birthday! Friday night he went to his favorite hang-out - a tapas restaurant in his neighborhood - with his mother, brothers, nieces and friends. Everyone had a great time.
Currently working long hours behind the scenes on a movie and that project should wrap up in May (we will release the name of the movie at a later date). So, please be patient if it takes a little while to respond to your emails and MySpace messages! Please still send them! We will respond as soon as his schedule permits!
Also, for those of you interested in a rare piece of Ryan memorabilia, his "In Search of The Partridge Family" production pass is being auctioned on eBay. Ryan signed and donated it and 100% of the proceeds will go to 'A Star For Jack'. You can see a photo of Ryan wearing the pass on the "In Search of" set above! You can visit the auction here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150094557379&rd=1&rd=1.
It will run until March 5, 2007! Good luck and remember it is for a wonderful cause!
We will also be offering a few more items signed by Ryan in the future, especially if this auction goes well! We are trying to offer more unique items that you will cherish in your collections.
(As of 2/6/07): The highest bid on the calendar auction is currently $45! Four more days left! Remember this is a private auction, email your bids!
Ryan is working behind the scenes on a movie right now - he will give us more details when he has time (he's working very long hours right now).
(As of 1/29/07): We have some Ryan-related auctions starting! Ryan has signed two Jack Cassidy desk calendars for auction. These calendars were only prototypes and we are not going to be producing more or selling any quantities. Only these two will be available. They are monthly calendars and stand upright on your desk. Each month has a picture of Jack - some with the family and some by himself. A photo of the front cover is seen to the left. Ryan himself has a copy of this calendar as does the campaign staff so it is a very limited edition - and signed.
This will be a private auction only. We are accepting bids via the myspace page (myspace.com/ryancassidycom) or email (starfund@astarforjack.org). The auction will run until February 10 (11:59 pm EST) and the current high bid will be posted on the myspace page. The top two bids will win! Shipping is just $1.50!
The "In Search Of The Partridge Family" production pass auction is coming soon!
(As of 1/16/07): Ryan's back to work and is working on a number of different projects - no specific one to mention at the moment but he will let us know.
But the most important news is in relation to A Star For Jack. Because of his belief in the project, Ryan will be doing a limited number of interviews (radio and maybe television) to promote the campaign. Indeed, a brief spot (without Ryan) will air on the Los Angeles news show The Rustam Report on January 18. Many thanks to journalist Denise Ames for her help! We will keep you posted on any upcoming interviews!
Also, Ryan is donating an item for auction - his production pass from 'In Search Of The Partridge Family'. It will be signed and is, of course, one of a kind. We will send out a message to the mailing list and also to our MySpace friends when we launch the auction!
(As of 12/29/06): Ryan had a wonderful holiday with his family and will call to update us on his next career step when something becomes finalized!
(As of 12/14/06): Yes, Ryan will be spending the holidays with his family. Both Patrick and Shaun and their respective families will be in LA this year. Many were asking. Thought I would pass that along!
Another auction to benefit 'A Star For Jack' will launch this Saturday as the CD auction closes. We are re-auctioning the signed tour t-shirt. You can find this auction at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150071504012 after it launches at 9 am PST (noon EST).
(As of 12/9/06): Spoke with Ryan briefly. He has some projects in the works and will let us know as soon as something is concrete. Otherwise, things are going well and he will be updating us with more in the near future!
Also, thank you for your support! We just crossed 140,000 hits - which is remarkable especially in realizing that we have received about 40,000 hits in one year - A great tribute to Ryan's 40th birthday! Thank you and we hope you keep visiting!
Also, we just launched another 'A Star For Jack' ebay auction: A "Joseph" tour CD signed by both Patrick and Melissa Cassidy. This is the last signed CD we have and it is quite the rare item. Please visit the auction at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150068358798&rd=1&rd=1. Good luck and happy bidding!
(As of 11/20/06): Ryan called Saturday night. He's doing well and is really concentrating on his acting career right now. At present, he is working on a scene from a Neil Simon play that he and an actress are planning to showcase. He says it is a great scene - very funny - and he is having fun with it. He is planning on having new headshots done soon and will send us some when they are ready.
Yes, he does visit his myspace page and is amazed at the number of people that have added onto it! He does see all of your comments and messages and really appreciates the well wishes and support!
Ryan is also working on his house right now and hitting the gym every day. As for the holidays, he is staying close to home. He might spend some time with his mother at her cabin between Christmas and New Years.
He wanted me to pass along that he hopes everyone has a wonderful holiday season! Thank you so much for your support over the past year!
(As of 11/6/06): Ryan called briefly on Thursday just to let us know that he is actually working on several projects. There isn't one particular show. He will call with more specifics when he has a chance. He thanks everyone for their support both via email and on the myspace page!
(As of 10/16/06): By popular request, we are now also available on myspace.com: myspace.com/ryancassidycom
(As of 9/20/06): As you can see to the left and right, we have launched a wonderful promotion to raise money for Jack Cassidy's Walk of Fame Star. Please click on the pictures and learn how you can have your own piece of Jack's star - a true Cassidy collectable. It isn't often that buying a piece of Cassidy memorabilia can make such an impact. Visit the site and order today!
(As of 9/11/06): Ryan is no longer working on Blades of Glory. More news will follow when he has time to update us!
(As of 8/21/06): Ryan had a lot to say and has a lot going on! He has been extremely busy with his work on Blades of Glory - very long hours where he feels like he's just getting home, crashing and then going right back to work. He's been working on the movie for about two weeks and has about three more to go. He has still found opportunity, though to hit the gym every day to keep himself in shape.
Over the summer he had the chance to do a lot of introspection and evaluating what path he would like his career to take and the answer is . . . He's returning to acting! Yes, it is great news. Right now he is looking for representation and he will be doing new headshots. He's looking for more dramatic roles but is willing to do any kind of role that can really show his range of talent. He's been out of the loop for awhile so he will have to work at getting his foot in the door again. People in this business tend to forget far too easily. I asked him about his interest in character roles and he said he'd definitely be interested in that but first he has to get casting directors to let him show them what he has to offer in that capacity. While he is actively looking for roles again, he will still be working as a set dresser - the work is far more predictable and he has certainly estabilished himself.
He was able to spend time with his brothers - all three of them - Saturday night. Ryan, along with brothers Shaun and Patrick, went to see David perform at the Canyon Club and they had a great time. Ryan noted that Patrick is indeed back in LA now with his family and that his mother is in Australia filming a new series for Lifetime. She'd accepted the role before finding out she'd been nominated for an Emmy.
Ryan's computer is indeed history but he should be back online soon - probably within the next week. Still feel free to send emails. I'll be holding them for him and sending them when he is ready. He wants to respond - but his access is really, really limited right now.
Also, Ryan is looking forward to seeing season six of Fact of Life on DVD. Season three is set to be released soon and we will keep you posted. Hopefully we will be able to get a few copies signed and auction them to benefit 'A Star for Jack'. Ryan definitely supports this fundraising effort!
Also, in extra DVD news, please don't forget that Invasion comes out on DVD tomorrow!
(As of 8/16/06): Just FYI for everyone sending emails to Ryan - He is having computer issues right now so please be patient. I am saving all emails for him and, if necessary, will print them out and mail them to him. We will respond to you as soon as we can! Please continue to email - just expect a slight delay. Thanks!
(As of 8/14/06): We have had some clarification. Ryan is working as a set dresser on the movie and, in contrast to his days near the beach with Summerland, he's getting to spend quality time with ice (the movie centers on ice skating).
(As of 8/1/06): This week Ryan will start work behind the scenes on a movie called Blades of Glory. Coincidentally, William Fichtner from Invasion has also worked on this movie. Other members of the cast include Will Farrell and Amy Poehler. Ben Stiller is listed as a producer. More information on this as I have it!
AStarForJack.org is now at its own server, separate from RyanCassidy.com. Ryan is very much aware of the campaign and appreciates everyone's efforts and contributions as we work towards our goal!
(As of 7/19/06): We launched the official fundraising site over the weekend: AStarForJack.org. All fundraising information and news will be listed there so I can keep Ryan's site dedicated to Ryan news and information. (Although, we are hosting the fundraising site for now.) More auctions will be coming in the near future so keep checking the fundraising site for details!
(As of 7/12/06): Talked to Ryan and not much is going on at the moment. Mostly he's just working out and biding his time until the right project comes along.
The auction completed and was incredibly successful! After a little bidding war, the signed CD garnered $81! Thank you to everyone who came to check it out! 100% of the proceeds will go to the 'A Star for Jack' Campaign for Jack cassidy's star on the Walk of Fame. There will be more auctions and projects in the near future!
(As of 7/5/06): We launched the first eBay auction for the A Star for Jack Campaign. It is a Soundtrack CD for the "Joseph" national tour - a very rare item in itself unless you go to see the show - but this is autographed by both Patrick and Melissa Cassidy. Please feel free to check out the auction and bid! It ends July 11! Best of luck to everyone! 100% of the proceeds go to Jack's star!
(As of 6/24/06): The Community Page has been restored. This is where we hold basic information about causes that this site and its staff supports. If you have a charity that you would like to have included, please contact me.
(As of 6/15/06): We just wanted to thank everyone for the successful charity auction! The eBay auction of the “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” playbill signed by the entire tour cast was auctioned in hopes of doubling my original donation (The program was bought with a donation of $20 when the tour was here in Tampa, FL.) and we exceeded that! The winning bid was for $51 (the reserve price of $20 was met in the first hour). 100% of the proceeds will go to Broadway Cares. I promised Patrick we would do this – and okayed it with Ryan. Mission accomplished! Thank you to all who participated!
Please watch for future auctions! We have more coming!
(As of 5/27/06): Ryan sent photos from his 40th birthday party (taken by his friend Ken). They are posted on ryancassidy.com/40th.html. Enjoy!
(As of 5/23/06): As many of you know, Invasion was not picked up by either ABC or CW. There have been reports that the Sci-Fi network will run the already aired episodes this summer to test-market them and perhaps pick up the series. They have indeed picked up series like Invasion in the past. The cancellation was a blow to the cast and crew and many are still adjusting to the shock.
What can be done? There are many people who have not given up the fight yet. Fans of the show are discussing options. ABC had to shut down their Invasion discussion board to "read only" status due to angry, hostile posts criticizing the network for their decision.
Also, please sign the petition. At this time almost 18,000 people have signed in support of this show. Among them, Nathan Baesel whom I'm sure would indeed give his left arm to keep this show going (just a very bad joke that only fans of the show would recognize). Nathan's blog has been an excellent resource on the behind-the-scenes info for the series. I encourage everyone to visit. While I am not totally convinced in the effectiveness of petitions, it can clearly demonstrate the following and support that a show has and may convince a network to give the show another chance. Many of you might ask what just one signature can do, but remember that each one adds up and almost 18,000 people have added theirs one-by-one. It only takes 30 seconds and you can keep your email private.
http://www.petitiononline.com/33030/petition.html.
If everyone does their part, maybe there is a chance to save this excellent show. There is precedent of shows being saved by fan and viewer campaigns and action. The situation is not hopeless at this point.
(As of 5/16/06): Invasion is not on the ABC Fall Schedule. But please do not jump to conclusions yet. The new CW network has not announced its fall line-up yet and according to actor Nathan Baesel's official site and blog, Shaun told everyone "See you next year" as they put the finishing touches on the season finale. Nathan plays Deputy Lewis Sirk on the series and has gained quite a following. I have not had a chance to speak with Ryan about the future of the series within the past week. I will post his reactions and views when he shares them.
As was posted by our staffer Corky, Ryan's Street Smarts episode played on GSN over the weekend (It was a Mother's Day episode). We apologize for not announcing the alert but it didn't appear on any of our searches.
Annie will be posting Invasion news updates to the message board as she has them. You do not need to register to see these posts but we encourage everyone to join us at the boards!
(As of 5/6/06): I did speak with Ryan and he is now on summer hiatus. The official word on Invasion has not come from ABC yet but there are two more episodes left to air for this season. The 6-disc DVD set of the first season will be released August 22. If they are printing "first season" on the DVD, it is a sure sign that, like Ryan has said, there is a good chance we will be seeing season two in the fall.
He will be sending me photos of his birthday party in the near future and it will be added as quickly as I can get them uploaded. I will also be adding a summary here to cover most of what we are missng in news. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience as we re-create and re-transfer the gallery pages and re-compose the news page. News tidbits, especially those on Invasion are added as we get them to the message board!
(As of 4/27/06): The good news is that the news page is back again after a major problem with spiderhosts.net (Please don't get me started. See the last time there was an issue - That was them, too.) So we're at a new server now - an American server that appreciates its clients. We are going to restore the basic pages and rebuild the lost pages as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience. I will rebuild as much news as possible. Check here and also the message board for updates. I will try to recover what news I can and post it below but we may have lost the news archives from 2004 and 2005.
(As of 3/2/06): Ryan would like to extend his sincerest thanks to everyone who has stopped by this site, left or emailed birthday wishes, or contributed to the two gift boxes we sent to him (some items that were ordered arrived late – for more details on what we sent, you can check out the message board>). He was truly overwhelmed with the support, affection and involvement everyone has shown him over the past month. He truly appreciates it and thanks you all for making this a wonderful birthday for him. So many of you stopped by the site in the past week to celebrate his birthday that we almost had technical issues! We will be upgrading our server in the near future to meet the demands of a ever-growing number of visitors!
As for his birthday party, he would like everyone to know that it went extremely well. He is getting numerous calls and voicemails from people who attended, saying how much they enjoyed themselves and that it was one of the best birthday parties they’d ever attended – which is even more flattering considering Ryan himself did all of the planning. It was held at Ca’ Del Sole, a popular Italian Resturant. He rented a private room and booked a jazz singer for the event. The guest of honor himself also had a great time. He swore to me that he is having the pictures processed as we speak and will get some out to me for the site shortly. I will get them onto the site as soon as I get them and will sent a notice to the mailing list. If you would like to join our mailing list (they get priority for signed pictures – and we will have a limited amount of those available, too), visit the contact page!
And for you Invasion fans, there is great news. Nothing is guaranteed at this point but it appears that Invasion will be picked up for another season! It probably won’t be in the same timeslot but Ryan and I agreed that moving the show might not be a bad thing since at this point it seems that timeslot may be hurting the show more than helping it. After the show goes on hiatus, Ryan will be signing some Invasion posters for auction and sale to raise money and support or favorite charities (a page is being created to feature these charities and I will post the URL when it is ready for visitors.) This site supports a number of charities that are close to the hearts of Ryan and the staff and we encourage everyone to check them out and lend support when they can.
(As of 9/26/05): Spoke with Ryan Saturday night. He has been extremely busy with his work on Invasion and is very pleased with how well the series premiere did in the ratings. He is working as a set dresser and says this is easily his favorite project that he has worked on – due in large part to the fact that this is his brother Shaun’s show. Of course he really wants the show to be a success – because it is Shaun’s show – but it’s also nice to have a consistent project, too. He says he loves working with his brother. They don’t really see each other every day but they do see each other much more often. Many of you have asked if Ryan will ever step in front of the camera on one of Shaun’s projects and it isn’t immediately likely. It isn’t that Shaun doesn’t believe in Ryan’s abilities and talent as an actor. He does. But professionally he sees Ryan as a set dresser – and a very good one at that. (Remember Ryan has also worked on the Hollywierd pilot and briefly on The Agency.) Ryan believes it is best that any roles be offered to Patrick first because Patrick is an established, experienced actor and has a family to support. If Shaun had a role that his youngest brother was truly made for, Ryan feels it would be offered to him but he is very happy to work behind the scenes on these projects.
