While the storyline of this video is a little hazy and a little on the dismal side, Ryan’s involvement is quite the opposite. He landed the role after auditioning for Lionel Richie who (obviously) really liked what Ryan had to offer. Ryan recalls feeling very comfortable when he walked onto the set – and enjoyed the project as a whole. What sticks out in his mind is how friendly and comfortable everything was and how Lionel worked to put everyone at ease.

Many have asked if the “love scene” was uncomfortable for Ryan, especially since this was his first professional acting role. “Not at all,” Ryan said. Actually that scene was not the one that caused a problem for him. He was very comfortable and things went very smoothly. It wasn’t awkward at all. (And really, the scene is more suggestive than graphic.) The scene he did have problems with was the bar scene where he and Lionel get into an altercation. Why? Because Lionel was such a nice guy that Ryan really didn’t want to get rough with him – acting or not. He was really hesitant but the scene still worked out rather well.

Does Ryan still see Lionel from time to time? They cross paths occasionally. Lionel still recognizes and remembers him and has walked across a room to hug Ryan and find out how he’s doing. The video was a great experience for a young actor and continues to be a great memory from the beginning of his career.
